FAQ

Common questions

Starting therapy comes with plenty of questions — that's a good sign, not a problem. Here are answers to the ones people ask most. Anything else, just ask.

The first session is mostly a conversation. Kerry will ask what's bringing you to therapy, what you're hoping for, and a little about your life and history — but only as much as you're comfortable sharing. There's no test to pass and nothing to prepare. Many people leave the first session feeling relieved simply to have started.

Yes — Kerry offers both virtual and in-person sessions. In-person sessions take place at The Rooted Space, 944 King Street West, Kitchener, Ontario. Virtual sessions run over a secure video platform, and many clients find them just as personal and effective.

Session length can vary depending on what you need — you and Kerry will confirm the details when you book. If a different format would serve you better, that's always open for discussion.

Coverage varies by individual benefit plan. You're encouraged to review your extended health benefits or contact your insurance provider to confirm coverage for services provided by a Registered Social Worker. Kerry can provide receipts for reimbursement where applicable, though reimbursement itself can't be guaranteed. Sessions are affordable — contact Kerry for current fees.

That's decided together, based on what you need and what's realistic for your life. Many clients start weekly or every other week, then space sessions out as things steady. The rhythm can change any time — therapy should fit your life, not the other way around.

If you're asking the question, something in you is already reaching for support — and that's worth listening to. You don't need a crisis or a diagnosis to benefit from therapy. The consultation exists exactly for this: a chance to talk it through with Kerry, ask questions, and decide with no obligation.

Whenever possible, please give at least 48 hours' notice when cancelling or rescheduling. That said, life happens — if a conflict comes up, just reach out to Kerry directly as soon as you can.

Use the Book a Consultation button anywhere on this site, or reach out directly at Kerryssnip@gmail.com. Kerry will respond with next steps — and reaching out never obligates you to begin therapy.
