About Kerry

Hello — I'm glad you're here.

Getting to know a therapist before you've even met can feel strange. This page is a small introduction — the rest unfolds in conversation.

About Kerry

Compassionate support grounded in experience.

Kerry Snip is a Registered Social Worker (MSW, RSW) with over 30 years in the field. She has loved this work from the beginning — and now, after gaining both professional and life experience, she finds private practice the most rewarding work of her career. She is committed to creating a compassionate, non-judgmental space where clients feel heard, understood, and supported.

Kerry works with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, behavioural challenges, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and emotional stress. She believes that every person has unique strengths and that therapy should be tailored to each individual's needs, goals, and life experiences.

Drawing from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and strengths-based counselling, Kerry helps clients develop practical coping strategies, build resilience, and feel more in control.

Kerry considers herself a champion for the underdog. Over her career she has supported people in correctional settings, spent 23 years working with a school board, and now works in private practice. Those years taught her something she still sees every day: behaviour is often a symptom. Once we understand what's driving a person's thoughts, feelings, physical responses, and behaviours, we can make the changes that help — understanding is what allows us to regain control.

Whether you're seeking support for yourself, your child, or your family, Kerry brings compassion, understanding, and practical guidance to the work.

“I see behaviour as a symptom. If we can understand the underlying feelings and thoughts, then we can make the changes needed to regain control.”
— Kerry Snip, MSW, RSW

Philosophy of care

What guides my work

I believe people are doing their best with what they've been given — and that with the right support, we all have the capacity to grow and change. My role isn't to give you all the answers; you are the expert on your own life. My role is to help you understand what's happening and find the answers that are right for you.

The relationship comes first: the work always begins with trust and connection. Sessions are collaborative and paced by you — some days we'll go deep; other days we'll simply steady the ground. Both matter.

  • RespectYou are the expert on your own life. Therapy respects your values, identity, and lived experience.
  • SafetyA confidential, non-judgmental space where difficult things can be said out loud.
  • CollaborationWe set direction together and check in often, so therapy always stays useful to you.
  • IntegrityEvidence-informed practice, clear boundaries, and honesty about what therapy can — and can't — do.

Working together

What you can expect in the room

To feel genuinely heard

No rushing, no formulas. Time and space to say what's true for you, at your own pace.

To be an active partner

Your feedback shapes our work. If something isn't landing, we adjust — therapy should fit you.

To leave with something useful

Fresh perspective, a practical tool, or simply a lighter load — each session is meant to serve you.

When you're ready

Let's have a first conversation

A brief consultation is a low-pressure way to meet, share what's on your mind, and see whether working together feels like the right fit.
